Founded in 1997, the department is the first German department in Taiwan's national colleges and universities and the only applied German department in Taiwan. The department's educational objective is to cultivate applied and practical foreign language talents, and its curriculum features a ‘three-in-one’ design that combines German, business management, and information competence. It also provides an informative and digital teaching and learning environment, with the aim of cultivating students to become professional German speakers who are capable of knowledge management.
In 2000, the department established a master's degree programme, focusing on the two major programmes of ‘Translation’ and ‘German Language Teaching’, to provide students with intensive and systematic professional training courses for German interpreters, translators and German teachers. In conjunction with the Ministry of Education's Second Foreign Language Education Programme, we also actively arrange teaching internships for our students to gain practical experience in German language teaching.
